How do I upload review files?

Back to 'Review' articles

Any member of a project team can upload content to the tanooki review .

That person becomes the content owner and by default, only the content owner has permission to view that file.

You can edit permissions when you upload, or leave it until later, the choice is yours.

Start by creating your organisational folder structure using the ‘New folder’ button.

Navigate to the destination folder where you want the content to go.

Click the Upload button to select your file or folder.

Click Edit Permissions to choose which individual users or review teams should have access.

By default, only Owners, Admins, and Content Managers can download the file, but you can toggle download permissions for others if needed.

Add a description, then click Upload to finish.

The moment the content is uploaded to tanooki it becomes available to playback natively. At this point, you can make notes and transcribe as normal.

In the background, tanooki creates thumbnails and seemlessly adds them once they are ready.

Track  your upload as it passes through the upload and transcode queue.

On completion,  recipients with notifications switched on will get an automated notification via email.

File type – tanooki accepts .mov, .mp4 and .mxf (opatom) files.

Codec – tanooki transcodes just about any codec into h264 for use on the player.

Timecode – try to include a file that contains timecode embedded in metadata. If your file contains no timecode metadata (often the case with .mp4), don’t worry, tanooki will add a 00:00:00:00 time code for you.

Bit rate – tanooki is bit rate agnostic. A medium and high quality version will be transcoded to make sure everything looks great in the app and is accessible to the widest audience.

Frame size – tanooki is agnostic.

Frame rate – tanooki supports 23.98, 24, 25, 29.97ndf, 29.97, 30, 59.94, 60 fps and just about any integer you can think of.

Audio – tanooki passes audio through so if you upload 8 mono tracks, your tanooki viewing experience will allow you to select from any of those 8 tracks.
